A few words about Katherine
Katherine was just starting a new chapter in her life when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was newly married (2yrs) and was doing well in her work life.
Katherine had a big heart and a captivating smile. Her family meant everything to her and she loved spending time with all her cousins, aunties, uncles and her friends, along with her beautiful nieces, Maisie and Orla. She had a very close bond with her sister Sian, and she was not only my daughter, but my best friend.
During her illness, Katherine raised funds for Breast Cancer charities and also Macmillan. Each year the Charity makes a significant contribution to St Giles Hospice, where Katherine passed peacefully surrounded by her family.
Katherine was so well loved by everyone who knew her. She has left a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled.
The Charity is to honour both her and her memory. She would be so proud to know that she is helping to bring comfort to so many people.
The items in the hampers are designed to ease the terrible side effects of cancer treatments. The memory pillow and blanket are there for when someone needs to rest. The unscented creams are to rehydrate the skin which becomes so dry. Some simpler items are ice lolly moulds, to take away the metallic taste to enable someone to eat to gain some strength back.
We put nice things in like hot chocolate, sweets and biscuits for when people are feeling a little bit better.
All hampers are personalised from peoples’ hobbies/interests, so each one is individually made up at the time of request.
